Four Js closes undisclosed seven figure deal with Fortune 100 retailer
Genero DB Supporting Store Operations while Providing Significant Savings
IRVING, Texas, September 18th, 2006 – Four Js Development Tools, Inc., today announced their Genero db database has been chosen by a mid-western Fortune 100 multinational retailer to support a key application for in-store operations. Genero db was chosen because of its high level of compatibility with the application, which had already been deployed company-wide, and because of significantly lower total cost of ownership.
“The compatibility of Genero db was exceptional, achieving 100 percent compatibility with the encumbent IBM Informix database, including the application code and even the stored procedures, which are usually impossible to migrate,” said Bryn Jenkins, chief operating officer of Four Js Development Tools, Inc.
Genero db is deployed in over two dozen stores and is planned for rollout to hundreds more stores in the near future, saving over 75% in database operating costs. The in-store application, developed using Four Js comprehensive Genero development and deployment suite, powers critical store operations. Migrating to Genero db required no code changes to the application.
“And of the 15,000 lines of data description language code used to build the database schema, only 25 lines needed minor tweaking, and did not result in any changes to the downstream application code,” said Jenkins.
“This is the first of many such deployments of Genero db,” said Jean-Georges Schwartz, chief executive officer of Four Js Development Tools Inc. “Genero db is garnering a great deal of attention out there and when bundled with Genero they form a formidable duo! It is going to provide a powerful enterprise database and deliver significant savings over legacy databases through database consolidation and compatibility.”
Genero db derives its compatibility, cost and performance advantages from the ANTs Data Server, a full featured, standards-compliant relational database management system based on a breakthrough, high-performance SQL query execution engine that incorporates innovative, lock-free operations.
The ANTs Data Server is compatible with applications written for the IBM® Informix®, Oracle,® Oracle-TimesTen, MS SQL Server® and Sybase® databases, and offers an easier way for organizations to consolidate their applications and significantly reduce costs while improving performance. Its pioneering database architecture incorporates patented and patent-pending technologies to deliver high database throughput for heavy workload applications.
Through its universal compatibility, Genero db allows applications to be quickly moved without the major rewrites and cost usually associated with application migration. Development teams need minimal training and can migrate to Genero db more quickly and inexpensively than to other databases.
