Announcing “SourceFourJs” – font of all things open
Dallas, Texas – October 16, 2007 — Four Js Development Tools is pleased to announce the launch of the SourceFourJs open source project, based on the founding principles of The Open Source Initiative (OSI) – a Californian public benefit corporation, founded in 1998. The OSI are the stewards of the Open Source Definition (OSD) and the community-recognized body for reviewing and approving licenses as OSD-conformant.
Purpose
SourceFourJs is an open source resource run by its developer community independent of Four J’s. The project site contains open source tools, utilities, examples, libraries, HOWTOs and tips. The functionality provided by the site itself includes a wiki, a download area, a subversion repository and an issue tracker. There is also a related group forum where developers can share ideas or discuss any topic about development with Four Js tools.
Allcomers welcome
Access is open to the public, and contributions to the project are welcome. By default the code will be MIT Licensed. If the code is published under another license, it must be an approved open source license.
The project publishes in several ways:
- Downloads of zipped/archived source packages
- Wiki pages containing HOWTO and code snippets
- Subversion repository
Non-project members may download any content. Project members can upload and publish content. If you wish to become a member and contribute to this project, please contact the project owners.
About OSI
The OSI is actively involved in Open Source community-building and education. OSI Boardmembers frequently travel the world to attend Open Source conferences and events, meet with open source developers and users, and to discuss with executives from the public and private sectors about how Open Source technologies, licenses, and models of development can provide economic and strategic advantages.
