Building a Web Component

Bio:

Morgan has been working with Four Js products for over 20 years, after initially migrating Century Softwares Informix 4gl ERP to BDS and then Genero. He became the Technical Manager of Four Js in the Asia Pacific in 1999 and delivering technical consulting and support services to the region ever since. He resides in Sydney, Australia with his wife and two kids, and you probably don’t want to start talking to him about bikes.

Abstract:
Starting with the HTML and Javascript that you have developed or sourced from an existing web page or repository, learn how to incorporate these as a Web Components within your Genero application.  It will cover how to design the interface, prototyping, and debugging. Examples to include an Accordian Tree widget, Stopwatch/timer for mobile app and a Graph- Charting widget.

Unlocking the Potential of fglsvgcanvas

Bio:

John Hobach has been with Four Js Development Tools since 2003 performing support and pre-sales engineering. Prior to joining Four Js, John provided enterprise support at Informix, and support and OS development at HP. John lives in the Dallas Texas area.

Abstract:
The built-in Web Component fglsvgcanvas implements a drawing canvas for Stretchable Vector Graphic content.  This presentation will explore how you can code this WebComponent to create your own widgets or custom interface.  From the simple act of drawing lines text, and shapes, onto more complex curves, gradients, animation, responding to clicks.

Bio:
Delane Freeman has provided pre/post sales support and consulting services to Four Js Development Tools’ USA and Canadian customers for the last 12 years. Prior to this, his tenure includes employment as a project lead and software engineer, developer/analyst, project manager and support engineer at Sprint, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., and IBM Global Services. He resides in Paola, KS with his wife…recent empty nesters.
Abstract:
In recent years the Representational State Transfer (REST) architecture has emerged as the predominant design style for web based services because it is simple and lightweight. In this session we will present one straightforward approach to implementing RESTful client & server code using Genero Business Development Language APIs.

Your Genero Development Environment

Command Line Tools

Leo Schubert, Erfurt, Germany

Bio:
Leo has been involved with FourJs since the 1st BDL version way back in 1996. He currently forms part of the R&D team and in recent years has been involved with the Genero Desktop Client and Genero Mobile products. He lives in Erfurt Germany and if not on his Mac, can be found on a mountain bike or skis in the forests surrounding his hometown.
Abstract:
For those of you comfortable in a command line environment and have not been tempted across to Genero Studio, this presentation will ensure that you are more productive with the VIM Genero plugin and other free tools and options for the command line environment.  These include syntax highlighting , source code completion, source code formatting, and tools such as fgldeb (a graphical debugger written in 4gl) and fglped (a form editor with preview written in 4gl).

Bio:
Reuben Barclay has been providing support to FourJs customers in the Asia Pacific area since 2008. Prior to that he was lead developer at one of the first sites in the Asia Pacific region to migrate to Genero. You can see a number of his sample programs on our GitHub page. He lives in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife and 3 teenage daughters.
Abstract:
Do you find that it is an effort to move forward on Genero versions?  Do you find yourself getting stuck behind on older Genero versions? Reuben will start by looking at reasons why you should upgrade that you can share with your customers.  He will then introduce to you some strategies and techniques that will make upgrading easier for you.

Neil Martin has been based in the London office of FourJs since 2000 and previously worked for 10 years as an application developer using Informix 4gl. As well as his technical Genero roles , he has been heavily involved recently in the Genero Cloud project. Performs Music with his wife as an Acoustic Duo.

The Genero Application Server contains more features than you think.  This session will show you how to configure effectively using resources, and abstract applications.  How you can use Genero Application Server as a tool to deploy your applications and custom GBC builds.  How you can monitor your applications, and how to debug and interpret GAS log files.
