COVID-19 – Endless Summer Fight Back with Chillisource
Durban, South Africa – July 23, 2020 — They say necessity is the mother of invention and that was certainly the case with Endless Summer Technologies’ (EST).
EST, an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to a well-known US scuba diving brand, made a quick and unforeseen entry into the South African market for personal protection equipment (PPE) in response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
EST went from scuba to medical in the wink of an eye. Amazing to witness and a real pleasure and inspiration to work with. Their reflex and drive was an acid-test for us and Genero.

As with many countries, the Coronavirus hit South African businesses and individuals hard. A contributing factor to this was the shortage of face masks. The goal was to help fill that void.
The process of bringing a new PPE brand to life was initiated on the second day of South Africa’s nationwide lockdown. Taking all of 2 months to design, prototype and manufacture, a range of mass-market and professional face masks officially entered volume production on May 15, 2020.
Chillisource’s Chilli Nova software – a web-based, material resource planning software developed in Genero, played an important role in streamlining the production process from procurement to invoicing.
These masks form the latest EST brand – Sola Medical. Sola Medical makes use of Chilli Source’s MRP software for its manufacturing process control.
