Searching Ask Reuben

Is there an Ask-Reuben article on topic XYZ?

A question I get asked from time to time is along the lines of “Is there an Ask-Reuben article on …?”.  I am also getting to the point when I start a new Ask-Reuben article  I have to think: “have I written an Ask-Reuben article on that topic already?”.  The answer I give is the same one that I use to see if there is an existing article.

To search for an article, I will use Google search and the site search operator.  That it I will type the following into Google search (where XXX is the term I wish to search for) …

site:4js.com/ask-reuben XXX

This will then limit the search results to pages with 4js.com/ask-reuben at the beginning of the URL, that is Ask Reuben articles.

Now I don’t like to type the same thing over and over again, so I have bookmarked this URL …

https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A4js.com%2Fask-reuben+XXX

… and just run the bookmark and then replace XXX with my search term.

If you have not seen the various terms you can use in a Google Search like”site:”, unfortunately as far as I can tell Google don’t have a page that lists them!  There are various pages out there that attempt to list them, google terms like “google search operators”
