Accessibility improvements

GBC 6.00.08 includes accessibility changes to semantic HTML, ARIA, keyboard focus navigation, and theming. These changes improve support for screen readers and keyboard-only navigation.

Splitter theme variables

The new theme variable gbc-SplitterWidget-focus-color sets the outline color for a splitter when it has the keyboard focus. The default value is $ui-text-icon-color.

The default value of the existing gbc-SplitterWidget-hover-color theme variable has changed to $ui-primary-color. This variable sets the splitter bar color when hovered on, dragged, or keyboard focused.

Caption bar

A table can display a caption bar above its header, giving direct access to the Table configuration panel. For more information, go to Caption bar.

Sidebar front calls

The new sidebar front call module lets an application show, hide, toggle, and query the visibility of the SideBarDrawer. For more information, go to Sidebar front calls in the Genero Business Development Language User Guide.

Public JavaScript API (gbc.api)

The new gbc.api namespace is the supported JavaScript API for GBC customizations. It currently provides the gbc.api.sidebar module, mirroring the sidebar front call module of the same name, and the gbc.api.pages module, reporting child page state in browser multi page mode. For more information, go to API reference.

Navigation button position

The new theme variable gbc-NavigationButton-position chooses where the navigation button is displayed.

This is useful when a customization hides the ChromeBar. Normally the navigation button disappears along with it. Moving the button to a toolbar or topmenu instead is a theme setting only, and does not require any change to the application itself. If no toolbar or topmenu is present, the button is not shown.

For more information, go to Navigation button specific variables.

SideBarDrawer docking

The navigation button now opens, docks, and closes the SideBarDrawer, and replaces the dock and undock buttons of the SideBarDrawer. For more information, go to Navigation button.
