Parent Group (suppressionInitializer)

The Parent Group property references another element that acts as an initializer for repeating this element.

This property is evaluated only if the Suppress property is TRUE for both this element and the referenced element. When the parent group has displayed on its most recent call, this element also displays even if the current value differs from the previous. You can use this property to group elements, because it is typically used in pivot tables when an inner dimension must be displayed whenever any of the outer dimensions change.

Type: String.

This property does not have a default value.

You can find the Parent Group property in the Repetitions category of the Properties view.

Example

A report shows product groups by regions. When the region changes, the product group is displayed even if the previous region ended with the same product group.
