Compile a file

When you compile a file, you execute the build rules for the selected file along with any pre-compile or post-compile commands.

About this task

The Compile file menu option is available only when a file (or multiple files) is selected in the project view. Having any non-file node selected disables the Compile file menu option.

Steps

Select one or more files in the Projects view.

Tip: To select multiple files, press the CTRL key as you select the files.
Select Build > Compile File from the top menu.
Alternatively, you can right-click a file and select Compile File.

The selected files are compiled, in accordance to the build rules established for the selected files, along with any pre-compile or post-compile commands specified for the files.
