What is a Genero Archive?

A Genero Archive (.gar) file is a zip-compressed archive containing applications and services to be deployed on a Genero Application Server (GAS).

Use the fglgar tool to create a Genero Archive file. The archive name can be any name you wish. It need not reflect the applications or services contained within.

A Genero Archive must include a MANIFEST file. The MANIFEST file provides deployments instructions. It must be at the root of the archive tree.

A Genero Archive can embed external tools. The content is not restricted to compiled Genero applications. Embedding external tools is the responsibility of the user packaging the applications (portability considerations and so on).
