Manage the build, link and execution rules

The Build Rules Configuration dialog enables you to define build rules, link rules, execution rules, and environment variables - and organize them by language. These rules and enviornment variables are then used when building, linking, or executing a node.

About this task

You can modify build rules for a global or specific setup.

The global setup overrides the default factory setup for Genero Studio. It allows a user to override defaults regarding file extensions, build rules, and package rules. Modifications made to the global setup are for the current user of a Genero Studio installation.

The specific setup overrides both the default factory setup and the global setup for Genero Studio. It allows a user to override defaults regarding file extensions and build rules for a specific GST setup directory, as specified by the GSTSETUPDIR environment variable. Changes will affect all users who point to the same GSTSETUPDIR.
