Upgrade the FLM without reinstalling licenses

Install a new version of Four Js license manager 6.00 without reinstalling your existing licenses.

About this task:

Typically, you must install licenses on a new FLM installation. In this task, if you install the new FLM package in the same directory as the existing installation, then you do not need to reinstall the licenses in the new FLM.

  1. Make a backup copy of your FLM configuration file, FLMDIR/etc/flmprofile.
  2. Stop the FLM service.
    1. Open a License Manager Workplace Window.
      • On Windows®, open the License Manager Workplace Window from the Start menu and select Run as administrator
      • On Linux®/UNIX®/macOS™, open a command prompt. "sudo" may be required.
    2. Type flmprg -s

      The FLM service is stopped.

  3. Install the new FLM package in the same directory as the existing installation.

    Take the option to overwrite the existing files.

  4. Replace the configuration file at $FLMDIR/etc/flmprofile with the backup copy created in Step 1.

    Overwrite the existing file.

  5. Remove all files and directories found in $FLMDIR/lock/.
  6. Start your new FLM:
    flmprg -r
