GAS system requirements
Failure to meet system requirements can result in unexpected behavior.
Operating systems
Linux®IBM® AIX®, HP-UX®, Sun® Solaris and Microsoft® Windows®.
For a detailed list of supported operating systems, refer to the Supported platforms and databases document (available on the Products download page of the Four Js Web site) or contact your support center. This document also informs you which operating systems will no longer be supported as of the next release.
Disk space
As the amount of disk space required may vary slightly, depending on the operating system, and the released version, you will need to estimate disk space. The disk space needed for installation may be calculated by multiplying the size of the download file by 5. Once the product is installed, the required disk space is approximately the size of the download file multiplied by 2.
Web Servers
Web server support depends on the platform hosting the Genero Application Server.
On Windows platforms, typically Internet Information Services is used. For more information on prerequisites and configuration see ISAPI installation in the Genero Application Server User Guide.
On Linux/UNIX™ platforms, we recommend Apache httpd, lighttpd and nginx. However, any Web server that is compatible with fastcgi can be used. For more information, refer to http://httpd.apache.org. To install and configure the required components , see FastCGI in the Genero Application Server User Guide.
User Agents
While these user agents can be used by the GAS, they are not provided as part of the GAS installation.
- Genero Desktop Client (GDC)
- The Genero Desktop Client allows you to run the application through the GAS, yet deliver the application locally using the GDC. For more information about the GDC, refer to the Genero Desktop Client User Guide.
- Genero Browser Client (GBC)
- The GBC allows you to deliver Genero applications in a Web browser on the client machine. It is a JavaScript client that works with Node technology. The Genero Browser Client is provided as part of the FGLGWS installation. For more information see the Genero Browser Client User Guide.
- Genero Web Services (GWS)
- Genero Web Services client allows you to implement Web services. Web services are a standard way of communicating between applications over the internet or an intranet. A Web service can be a server that exposes services or a client that consumes a service.
- Any Web Service Client
- The Genero Application Server is able to serve Web Service or RESTful clients written in languages other than Genero.
Databases
Any database accessible from the DVM or from the ODI is supported.
