Pack HBOX and VBOX child elements

Starting with GBC 4.01.14, the HBOX and VBOX elements have a new Genero presentation style attribute called packed that packs all child elements into the box, provided there is no stretchable child element (such as a TABLE).

By default, or when the attribute value is set to "no", the available space is distributed equally between its child elements in the alignment direction of the box (vertically for VBOX or horizontally for HBOX).

With the packed attribute enabled (attribute value set to "yes"), child elements are packed in the box and the remaining available space is allocated to the last child.
  • VBOX child elements are packed vertically to the top.
  • HBOX child elements are packed horizontally to the left.

If a box is defined with a SPLITTER – which allows users to resize the child elements inside the box – the packed attribute is ignored once the user sets the splitter positions and the user's layout is kept in stored settings.

For more information on the packed style attribute, see the Genero Business Development Language User Guide.
