Key players

Typically, the GBC team involves a front-end web developer, application developer, and system administrator.

When working with applications deployed in a Web environment, you need to identify or add team members who are proficient in various Web technologies. Many of these technologies will be unfamiliar to your traditional Genero BDL application developer.

The key players involved in developing Genero Browser Client (GBC) applications are listed by role, as in Table 1. It is rare that a single person fulfills the requirements demanded by each of these roles.

Table 1. GBC roles
Role Responsibilities
Front-end Web Developer Customization of aspects of the application within GBC. They influence the look-and-feel of the application by adding JavaScript and HTML code and modifying CSS using Sass.
Application Developer Development of Genero applications, concentrating on the business logic. Members of this team are proficient in the Genero BDL language. They also support the customization work of the front-end Web developers.
Note:

The Genero BDL language is covered in the Genero Business Development Language User Guide.

System Administrator Deployment and management of applications and customizations to the Genero Application Server.
Note:

Administrative tasks are mostly covered in the Genero Application Server User Guide.

If you are working with the GBC, you must have some understanding of Web technologies like HTML, XML, style sheets, Node.jsĀ®, Sass, and JavaScript. You can find Web standards at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) site.
