Charsets Configuration
Charsets can be defined in four places.
With environment locales when launching a DVM.
In HTML charset in template.
Inside XML files used by the GAS.
With environment locales when launching the GAS.
DVM Locale
If application files (such as.4gl, .per, .4st files) contain characters in a specific encoding, the DVM has to run in this encoding.
HTML charset
In order to correctly handle application data in the User Agent, the HTML page charset needs to be set.
XML Encoding
Configuration for the Genero Application Server involves XML files (
xcf
).
GAS System Encoding
The Genero Application Server interacts with the operating system in various ways.
Default Encoding
By default, GAS uses UTF-8 encoding for handling all Unicode characters.
