Genero – Did you know – Supported Systems Document
by Support Team
Example of a ‘Did you know’ post to educate and remind users of things
One of the more frequently asked questions we get asked is the question as to wether or not Genero is supported on a particular version of an operating system or database.
The first place you should look for that information is the supported system document. This can be found as the first entry in both the documentation and downloads section of the website
In terms of reading the document, it is split into 4 sections
The first is the supported operating systems. It is case of finding the OS you are interested in down the left hand side and then looking across to the column corresponding to the Genero product you are interested in. In the screenshot I have highlighted the 7 digit OS code, not only does that correspond to part of the download filename , but it also has meaning in the second section.
The second section lists the supported databases. The 7 digit OS code from the first section is in the column header, the list of databases is on the left hand side. You should note that we connect to database clients, not databases, so it is the database client that is listed ie Informix CSDK 4.1, not Informix Database 12
Appendix A lists the known end of support dates for the various operating systems. This is the date the operating system manufacturer has indicated that they will stop supporting their product, hence it is also the date we stop supporting Genero on this operating system.
Appendix B lists the known end of support dates for the various databases. This is the date the database manufacturer has indicated that they will stop supporting their product, hence it is also the date we stop supporting Genero on this database.
New operating systems and databases get added to this document when known. Please make sure you have checked this document before asking a question as to wether a particular OS version or database is supported by Genero.
