Genero’s XML sweetens M&M’s certification at US Department of Health

Stone, Georgia, USA – August 17, 2011 — Four Js independent software vendor Mitchell & McCormick’s (M&M) VisualHealthNet has received the US federal government’s “Meaningful Use” stamp of approval by earning the Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Testing and Certification Body (ONC-ATCB) “Electronic Health Record (EHR) Complete Ambulatory” certification.

The designation officially enables EHR software providers to qualify for funding under theAmerican Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Tested and certified under the Drummond Group’s Electronic Health Records ONC-ATCB program, VisualHealthNet is 2011/2012 compliant in accordance with the criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
ONC-certification is considered a major accomplishment – only about 100 companies have achieved this status in the US to date. It was granted on the first attempt, an achievement that only half of all tested companies have reached.

“XML is organic to Genero, making the ONC-certification much simpler than we at first expected,” says Mark Bennett, Executive Vice-President, Mitchell & McCormick Inc. “We used XML via web services to integrate an SaaS e-prescribing solution and other critical EDI components. Hats off to the Four Js support team; they really helped us with so many aspects of this.”

“Mitchell & McCormick’s long time focus on the Public Health and Behavioral Health domains has provided our customers with improved provider workflow, improved quality of care, instant access to relevant information from patients’ charts, simplified compliance burdens, and optimized revenue streams. We have now added meaningful use compliance, giving the public health and behavioral health market a complete solution from a vendor solely committed to their specialty domains.” adds Bennett.

“As one of the very few vendors operating solely in the Public Health and Behavioral Health domains, we are proud to bring meaningful use compliance capability to our current customers at no additional cost. Meaningful use incentive money can now flow to the providers’ bottom line rather than into the pockets of their vendors.” says Mitchell & McCormick’s  John Fahey, President.

Drummond Group’s ONC-ATCB 2011/2012 certification program tests and certifies that EHRs meet the meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology — a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.

“The need to leverage information technology in the healthcare industry is huge – as the quality of care and efficiency benefits that
come with computerization can really make a difference in the overall patient experience. We’re ready to help transform the industry by providing the sophisticated software testing services that ensure that vendors and hospitals are offering systems that are capable of meeting the meaningful use standards required to obtain incentive funds as well as the rich functionality required to move the clinical care needle forward,” says Rik Drummond, CEO of the Drummond Group. “We have been testing software for more than a decade and are ready to leverage our extensive experience handling sophisticated systems in complex industries as well as dealing with complicated technical issues such as interoperability and security.”

About VisualHealthNet

Visual HealthNet 11, developed in Genero, is a fully integrated solution that integrates both point of care health records (EHR/EMR), as well as a complete Practice Management System with back office functions such as billing, and state and federal reporting requirements. Visual HealthNet is a totally integrated system where all the pieces – whether they concern the clinical, financial, or business management of an organization – are tied together in a logical and meaningful way. The ability to find a total solution in one package is more important than ever considering how, in today’s competitive world, success depends on cooperation and information-sharing across the entire organizational spectrum. Manual data collection and reporting are significantly reduced resulting in less error and increased time for direct service. Clinician and Nursing productivity are increased through automated procedures; real-time access and decision-making tools provide you with the data you need to effectively manage your organization. Billing, collections, staff productivity, organizational, state, and federal reporting all improve because of the integrated design of the Visual HealthNet Product.

Visual HealthNet is a resource used by both management and staff. It is an efficient tool for organizing data, and most importantly, a mechanism for converting data into useful information. Visual HealthNet supports all parts of an organization — administrative, clerical, financial, clinical, executive management, state and federal requirements. The “Visual HealthNet v11 Complete EHR” is 2011/2012 compliant and has been certified by Drummond Group, an ONC-ATCB approved body to certify any complete or modular EHR both ambulatory and inpatient, in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. This certification does not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services or guarantee the receipt of incentive payments.
